Welcome to the ROMEOS
(Retired Old Men Eating Out)

We are the Men’s Group of the First Christian Church, (Disciples of Christ) in Wildwood, Florida.

The group’s mission has been to establish scholarship fund.  The fund was  to initially provide a scholarship to a deserving senior at Wildwood High School. Over the past six years our area of involvement has been greatly expanded.

The four areas of scholarship funding are:

1. To provide two major scholarships to two seniors at the Wildwood High School going to college.

2. Helping approximately 50 children enjoy a week of summer camp experience at the Christian Church Conference Center in Silver Springs,     Florida.

3. To participate in funding the before school Physical Education Program at the Wildwood Elementary School. (We buy basketballs).

4. Partnerting with a Children’s Help Group, “Project Legacy” which helps programs and children in need in the Lake and Sumter County area.

Our funding for the ROMEOS  OBTAINED  FROM MANY AREAS.  The main source is our 5 benefit Golf Tournament series during the winter season.  After a 9 Hole Scramble, they include  a scrumptious covered dish dinner and our famous raffle with prizes furnished by local  merchants.  Funding also come from a spring golf club sale.  Tournament Hole Sponsorship Partners and numerous personal donations.  We also sell ROMEOS golf hats.

The ROMEOS also have four Co-Chairmen:
John Miller, Duane Bennett, Roger Copenhaver and Rich Wright.  They can answer any question that arise.

The gentlemen have breakfast on the first Monday of each month to fulfill the title of their group. Come join the ROMEOS, the experience will be rewarding.
